Karen Hanscom, Ph.D.

Dr. Hanscom is the Executive Director of Advocates for Survivors of Torture and Trauma (ASTT), a comprehensive torture treatment program with offices in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Maryland. A licensed psychologist, Dr. Hanscom has provided training in the field of torture treatment both nationally and internationally. She has received many awards including the International Humanitarian of the Year Award from the American Psychological Association.

In addition to being on the Voice of Love Board, she is on the Executive Committee of the National Consortium of Torture Treatment Programs (NCTTP). She is the current Vice President for the International Rehabilitation Council of Victims of Torture (IRCT), an umbrella organization for torture treatment programs world-wide based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
