Time: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (on Friday  8:30 – 12:30 only)

Parking & Transportation: Free parking is available; public transportation is NOT available, but the nearest hotels may shuttle you.

Scholarships: Three half-price and two full-price needs-based scholarships for tuition will available only for interpreters who work with torture treatment programs, refugee mental health programs or legal services for asylum seekers.

Training for Trainers (TOT)

The first five-day TOT to prepare trainers to deliver Healing Voices: Interpreting for Survivors of Torture, War Trauma and Sexual Violence will take place in Maryland, USA (near Baltimore and Washington, DC).

Other Programs

VOL has delivered training in person (face to face), via distance learning (Skype, WebEx, Adobe Connect), and webinars. Program length ranges from 60 minutes to 3 hours but we can provide workshops for one day, two days or more.

Topics typically have focused on these areas:

• Trauma-informed interpreting (mental health or healthcare settings)
• Interpreting for refugees and asylees
• Vicarious trauma for interpreters
• How to work with trauma-informed interpreters
