Other Programs

VOL has delivered training in person (face to face), via distance learning (Skype, WebEx, Adobe Connect), and webinars. Program length ranges from 60 minutes to 3 hours but we can provide workshops for one day, two days or more.

Topics typically have focused on these areas:

  • Trauma-informed interpreting (mental health or healthcare settings)
  • Interpreting for refugees and asylees
  • Vicarious trauma for interpreters
  • How to work with trauma-informed interpreters

The focus is both informative and practical. We offer programs that are interactive and engaging with skills practice and small group work wherever feasible.

How to Bring a VOL Training to Your Area

Perhaps you want to bring the full five-day session of Healing Voices or its Training of Trainers to your university, language company, nonprofit organization or government agency.

Or maybe you would like a short webinar, a half-day workshop, a conference presentation or some other training focused on trauma-informed interpreting or how to work with trauma-informed interpreters.

Whatever you need, if it relates to trauma-informed interpreting or interpreting for refugees and asylees, VOL is the leading organization in the U.S. and abroad for this area of specialization.

If you want to know how to bring us to you, just ask! As a nonprofit organization, VOL works hard to keep costs as low as possible. VOL is also willing to collaborate on grant proposals, research projects and other funder-supported ventures.
